Opening programme of the “Music of Change” festival
The evening of piano music “Lithuania-Estonia” is a musical journey connecting the sound worlds of the two Baltic States, where music sounds like a dialogue between cultures, generations and aesthetic worldviews. Renowned Lithuanian and Estonian pianists Rokas Valuntonis and Johan Randvere will present to the audience the most prominent piano works of their respective composers.
You will hear a colourful panorama of music from delicate lyricism to modern expression: from Alisson Kruusmaa’s delicate Paper Flowers and Tõnu Kõrvits’ stylised miniatures to Jaan Rääts’ dynamic Tokata and Erkki-Sven Tüür’s expressive sonata, and alongside Čiurlionis’s works that have become classics of Lithuanian music, you will hear a modern take on the piano suite by Swiss composer Rudolf Schkiebert.
