Pianist Julija Bagdonavičiūtė – an active performer of contemporary music, creator of interdisciplinary projects, chamber music partner and winner of prestigious scholarships – comes to Klaipėda with a programme reflecting her creative path and the aesthetics of her debut album “Flow”. The album explores the theme of “flowing multitude”: from the flow of light, air, heat, sand and sound to the flow of people, thoughts, memories and emotions. It is this constant change, flow and transformation that becomes the overall dramaturgical principle of the programme.

In this concert, Julia’s works create a diverse map of contemporary and 20th-century music, where Diana Čemerytė’s intimate minimalism, Žibuoklė Martinaitytė’s dramaturgy of light, the symbolic expression of Anatolijs Šenderovas, Raminta Šerkšnytė’s ostinato rituals, and Vidmantas Bartulis’s melancholy silence meet. Among them are cycles by Czech masters Leoš Janáček and Bedřich Smetana, showing a different understanding of fog, temporality and inner landscape. The programme is rounded off with works by contemporary Lithuanian composers Julius Andrejevs and Jonas Jurkūnas, bringing theatrical, grotesque, ironic and playful moods.
