Klaipėda welcomes “Žuvėdra”!

On 20 September this year, Klaipėda’s Švyturys Arena will host an exclusive concert to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the legendary Klaipėda sports dance group “Žuvėdra”! Several generations of the team – from past to present and future Žuvėdra dancers, coaches and performers – will come together to celebrate the honourable anniversary of Žuvėdra in a solemn and exciting event. “Žuvėdra is not only Klaipėda, not only Lithuania – it is an international stage!

For more than six decades, the group has celebrated our country all over the world, graced the most prestigious stages, trained many world-renowned dancers, and inspired countless dance enthusiasts.

On this occasion, a large number of dancers who grew up with Žuvėdra will return for one evening not only to celebrate, but also to show that for dance, the concept of time does not exist, but rather brings together a fantastically long period.

The day part of the programme will feature competitions – the strongest Lithuanian ballroom dancers will compete, and we will see the best of the best in the evening part of the programme.

The evening part of the concert will be hosted by former Žuvėdra dancers and charismatic presenters Tadas Rimgaila and Linas Lapėnas. The organisers of the evening will invite you to reminisce the history of Žuvėdra, surprise you with unexpected surprises, performances and compositions with almost 100 dancers at once!

Costume designer Aina Zinčiukaitė will recall the costume fashions of dancers from all six decades, and one of the most famous Lithuanian performers – Martynas Kavaliauskas – will delight with passionate dance melodies. The anniversary concert will be crowned by the performance of the guests from the Netherlands – the Latin American sports dance ensemble “DSV DANCE IMPRESSION”.
