It is a dance performance-historical tour of Klaipėda’s sites, which 200 years ago were walked by Queen Louise and the Prussian royal court, fleeing Berlin from Napoleon’s army.
With the historical – fiction text in the headphones, the modern deconstructed music of the time, the sounds of the city, and the accompaniment of five dancers embodying the queen, the viewer feels like a hero in a historical film, where the pulse of modern Klaipėda and the vibrancy of the old Mémel merge.
By hearing extracts from the memoirs of the Queen and the courtiers, the viewer becomes a witness to her surroundings, while Louise’s favourite cello music and the laconic movement in the urban spaces create a magical experience.
The dance performance – a historical excursion is intended for those looking for a poetic, personally touching, unconventional artistic expression and those interested in the history of Klaipėda.
A dance performance-historical excursion “Chess for Prussia. Louise in Memel” is presented by Klaipėda Rotary Club “Karalienė Luizė” and Sheiko Dance Theatre
