As we enter the season of Advent, on 2 December 2025 at 5.30 pm, we invite you to a cosy philosophical-musical evening. We will meet with mythologist, writer Aleksandras Žarskus and the young cancanists at the Pempininkai Unit of the Immanuel Kant Public Library of the Klaipėda City Municipality (Taikos Ave. 81A).
A. Žarskus is a thinker, who, together with Algirdas Patackas, has written The Book of Changes (2013), as well as books such as Taming Death (2021) and Me Before Birth (2005). He has adapted Vydūnas’s book “The Mysteries of Birth” for today’s reader. Zharkov’s themes are based on a mythical approach to life and its mysteries; the essential keys are human consciousness, language, perception, spirituality. Taking examples from Vydun to the thoughts of Yuval Noah Harari, the author invites the reader to reflect on meaning, destiny and everyday life from a different angle.
This time in the Pempininkai Unit, Aleksandras Žarskus will talk about entering the dark season. How is it important in our lives? What does it mean to ripen – to fade away, to die – to become serious, to be born – to fade?
The guest’s reflections will be complemented by the sounds of cancellos: works for cancellos by Lithuanian composers will be performed by doc. The works of the Lithuanian folk music will be performed by the students of the class of cancellos of Jolanta Babaliauskienė, Vaiva Tulabaitė, Karolina Turčinskaitė, as well as by the students of the Music Department of the Faculty of Music of the LAMT Klaipėda. Vytautė Stonkutė, a student of the class of cannulas of Jolanta Babaliauskienė.
We invite you to participate.
