In the 16th century, quay of Danė river was blocked up with warehouses. At the beginning of the 17th century, in Fisherman street were built masonry dwelling houses and warehouses.
In the first half of 20th century, the warehouse (Fisherman st. 12) was called the ”Germania-Speicher” (German warehouse). A neighbor warehouse (Fisherman st. 8) was called the ”Dange-Speicher” (Danė warehouse). It can be assumed that in the second half of 19th century these warehouses, due to the similarity of its architecture were called the two brothers. The names of Klaipėda warehouses have deep traditions. In the 18th-19th centuries were known these warehouses of Klaipėda: Hermis, Leopard, Three Roofs, Greater, Karolis, The Green.
