On June 20 at 6 p.m., the outdoor exhibition \u201cSpatial Remix \/\/ The History of the Sculpture Park\u201d will open in the central plaza of the Klaip\u0117da Sculpture Park. <\/p>\n
The exhibition is dedicated to the history of the Smiltyn\u0117 Granite Carving Symposia (1977\u20131991). On display are photographs by Vytautas Karaciejus (from the archives of the Museum of the History of Lithuania Minor), Petr \u0160mit, and Bernardas Aleknavi\u010dius (from the archives of the Ieva Simonaityt\u0117 Public Library of Klaip\u0117da County), as well as photographs from the sculptors\u2019 personal archives. <\/p>\n
Algirdas Stonis created the structural design for the exhibition. His source of inspiration was the old informational sculpture panels, which were replaced with new ones during the park\u2019s renovation. The informational panels were also used to create a separate spatial object. <\/p>\n
With this exhibition, the museum reminds us that 2027 will mark the 50th anniversary of the start of the Sculpture Park, a long-standing artistic phenomenon. <\/p>\n
For fifteen summers, for several months at a time, hammers clanged, compressors roared, and jackhammers rattled in Smiltyn\u0117. A group of professionals worked here, having gathered from Lithuania, Latvia, and Belarus; in the most recent symposia, they came from Hungary, Luxembourg, Sweden, France, and even as far away as Mexico. A total of 69 professional sculptors participated in the symposia, including 9 female sculptors. The works created during the 1990\u20131991 symposia adorned the Dan\u0117 River embankment. <\/p>\n
