On July 25, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., the \u201cLyceum\u201d Professional Art Gallery in Klaip\u0117da invites you to an exclusive meeting with Simas \u017daltauskas, one of Klaip\u0117da\u2019s most prominent contemporary painters. During the event, visitors will have a rare opportunity not only to familiarize themselves with the artist\u2019s work but also to watch him paint live and chat with him. <\/i><\/em><\/p>\n

The paintings will come to life before the viewers’ eyes<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

A live creative process is one of the most exciting ways to experience art up close. Usually, visitors to a gallery encounter a finished work, but this time they\u2019ll be able to observe the creative process itself\u2014how a composition, color relationships, and expressive brushstrokes come to life on the canvas. <\/p>\n

On July 25, artist S. \u017daltauskas will paint en plein air<\/i><\/em> (lit. \u201cin the open air\u201d)\u2014from life, responding to natural light, the colors of the surroundings, and the ever-changing atmosphere. This painting method requires exceptional sensitivity to the environment, spontaneity, and a quick artistic response, so viewers will have the opportunity to witness the full dynamics of the creative process up close. <\/p>\n

Meeting with the Creator<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

The opportunity to observe the creative process of this Klaip\u0117da-based artist live will allow viewers to see painting from a completely different perspective\u2014not as a finished product, but as a living, constantly evolving creative act. This event format will help bridge the gap between the artist and the viewer, inviting participants not only to observe but also to ask questions, engage in discussion, and gain a deeper understanding of the language of contemporary painting. <\/p>\n

The event is open to everyone\u2014both those with an active interest in art and those who want to see a professional artist\u2019s creative process up close for the first time. Live painting, conversations with the artist, and the opportunity to witness the creation of art in real time promise a unique cultural experience. <\/p>\n

About the Author<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

Simas \u017daltauskas was born in 1980 in Klaip\u0117da. After completing his studies in painting at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, he has been actively involved in the Lithuanian art scene. Since 2008, he has been a member of the Lithuanian Artists\u2019 Union; he teaches drawing and painting at the Klaip\u0117da Faculty of the Vilnius Academy of Arts and works as a set designer at the Klaip\u0117da State Music Theater. <\/p>\n

Throughout his creative career, the artist has held 25 solo exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad\u2014in Stockholm, London, Cardiff\u2014and has participated in more than 30 group exhibitions; his work has been recognized with various grants, prizes, and awards. In 2012, he was awarded the Antanas Gudaitis Honorary Diploma for continuing and developing the Lithuanian tradition of colorist painting. In addition to painting, Simas \u017daltauskas also writes poetry\u2014he has published several books of poetry. <\/p>\n

The artist\u2019s work is distinguished by its expressive brushwork, rich color palette, and sensitive engagement with motifs from nature. His paintings continue the tradition of the Lithuanian Colorist School, while also exploring new possibilities for visual expression, in which emotion and intuition become no less important than the depicted object. <\/p>\n
