On the left bank of the Dan\u0117 River, where the banks recall the shadows of sails and the breath of wind, seven bronze bollards are installed \u2013 silent witnesses to the voyages and dreams of outstanding Lithuanian sailors.<\/p>\n
Three yachts were symbolically honoured: Lietuva<\/i><\/em>, Dail\u0117<\/i><\/em>\u00a0and Audra<\/i><\/em>, who, in 1993, on the wave of the spirit of S\u0105j\u016bdis<\/i><\/em>, adorned with the Lithuanian tricolour, crossed the Atlantic. Their voyage became a symbol of independence.<\/p>\n One of the bollards is dedicated to Gintaras Paulionis, who conquered the Baltic Sea in the Alfredas Jansenas <\/i><\/em>rowing boat in 1994, and another to the Anna of Sand<\/i><\/em>\u00a0Norwegian sailing ship, which is one of the oldest fishing vessels in Europe.<\/p>\n \u2018One name \u2013 Lithuania\u2019 was the motto of the Millennium Odyssey \u2013 a yachtsmen voyage around the world that started in 2008, showing the perseverance and courage of the nation.
