On 22 October 1906, first trains departed from there, going out of the city on a narrow, just 1,000 mm wide, gauge. The railway was built and operated by a private joint-stock company, and the name of the network itself was Memeler Kleinbahn.

The railway lines connected Klaipėda with Dovilai, Vėžačiai, Plikiai and Laugaliai townships, transporting both passengers and cargo. Although the trains did not run fast, they ran reliably, and such a trip by train used to be the highlight of a day, especially for children and travellers with suitcases. The narrow-gauge railway was also used to transport sawmill products and lime.

The station was filled with horn sounds of steam locomotives, echoing footsteps, and the hustle and bustle of departures, daily city life was in full swing there. Today, the station building is like a frozen memory of the times when small trains travelled from Klaipėda to all corners of the region, leaving a trail of smoke and the excitement of departure in the air.

Address: Priestočio Str. 3 and 5, Klaipėda

[208

post-5500","place","type-place","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","place-category-places-to-visit
["GET
