This sailing ship was built at the Turku shipyard in Finland in 1948 as a contribution to the Soviet Union after World War II. Later, the ship went to the Klaip\u0117da Maritime School and became a sailing ship for training.<\/p>\n<p>For many post-war sailors the ship was a place to get the first baptism of fire, and careers of many prominent captains of the port city, such as Vilius Pakalni\u0161kis, Zenonas Kaupas and Ri\u010dardas Lu\u010dka, started on it. At one time there were 48 such sailing ships, however, only a few have survived to this day. One of them today adorns the port of Tallinn.<\/p>\n<p><em><i>The Meridianas<\/i><\/em>\u00a0of Klaip\u0117da completed its training mission in 1967 and, upon returning to the city, operated as a restaurant on the Dan\u0117 River, becoming a legendary place for meetings and unforgettable evenings.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, the ship was purchased by Aidas Kaveckas and Aloyzas Kuzmarskis. After the restoration carried out on the initiative of ship\u2019s owners, the city relic returned to its usual place in 2013.
