This colourful celebration, held for the <strong data-start=\"327\" data-end=\"340\">23rd time<\/strong>, also marks a special milestone \u2014 <strong data-start=\"375\" data-end=\"423\">the 40th anniversary of its creative journey<\/strong>. The origins of the festival date back to 1985 when director <strong data-start=\"485\" data-end=\"505\">Alvydas Vizgirda<\/strong> initiated and organised a chamber theatre showcase. Over the years, the event grew, spreading across the city and becoming Klaip\u0117da\u2019s signature international summer event. Alvydas Vizgirda served as the festival\u2019s artistic director for <strong data-start=\"742\" data-end=\"754\">30 years<\/strong>. For the past decade, the festival has been organised by the creative team of <strong data-start=\"833\" data-end=\"872\">Klaip\u0117da Culture Centre \u017dvej\u0173 R\u016bmai<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"875\" data-end=\"1223\">From <strong data-start=\"880\" data-end=\"899\">July 3rd to 5th<\/strong>, \u201c\u0160ermuk\u0161nis\u201d performances will take place at <strong data-start=\"946\" data-end=\"1125\">Dan\u0117 Square, Karlskrona Square, Theatre Square, the courtyard of the bar \u201cHerkus Kantas,\u201d Jonas Hill (Jono kalnelis), and the square by the Culture Factory (Kult\u016bros fabrikas)<\/strong>. On <strong data-start=\"1130\" data-end=\"1142\">July 6th<\/strong>, the festival will travel beyond Klaip\u0117da to <strong data-start=\"1188\" data-end=\"1222\">Kretinga, Priekul\u0117, and \u0160ilut\u0117<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1225\" data-end=\"1535\">Over four days, audiences will enjoy <strong data-start=\"1262\" data-end=\"1281\">23 performances<\/strong> (symbolically matching the festival\u2019s 23rd edition) in a wide variety of genres \u2014 from traditional street clownery to grand fiery musical shows. The event will feature <strong data-start=\"1450\" data-end=\"1472\">11 theatre troupes<\/strong>, bringing together performers from <strong data-start=\"1508\" data-end=\"1534\">15 countries worldwide<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1537\" data-end=\"1827\">This year\u2019s festival theme can be summed up as <strong data-start=\"1584\" data-end=\"1613\">\u201cReturns and Discoveries\u201d<\/strong>, reflecting its core mission \u2014 to present high-quality artistic performances while balancing topics from global political and existential concerns to provocative everyday situations and lighthearted entertainment.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1537\" data-end=\"1827\">\n<p data-start=\"4949\" data-end=\"5129\">All events of the <strong data-start=\"4967\" data-end=\"5045\">23rd International Street Theatre Festival \u201c\u0160ermuk\u0161nis\u201d are free of charge<\/strong>.
