Over the course of three evenings, Tilt\u0173 Street will turn into a living stage of light and shadow. Visitors are invited not only to watch, but also to slowly walk along the street, experiencing the city on a new scale. The light projection changes as people move, creating a continuous visual rhythm. This is the largest project of its kind in Lithuania. A core element of the project is a specially composed 30-minute sound track created exclusively for this installation, serving as an invisible narrative framework. This giant, sleeping cat snores, purrs, twitches its ear, and swishes its tail, inviting visitors of all ages to immerse themselves in a lively, sensitive, and unexpectedly intimate experience.<\/p>\n<p>The installation responds to human presence\u2014the more visitors gather around it, the more restless the cat becomes. Visitors are encouraged to show affection by stroking or hugging the cat and can feel its deep, powerful purring resonating as vibrations throughout the body. Internal lighting gently shifts in sync with the cat\u2019s movements, while the soundscape\u2014purring and occasional snoring\u2014enhances the sense of aliveness.<\/p>\n<p>Using innovative Air Giants soft robotics technology, the cat\u2019s ears and tail move as if it genuinely senses the proximity of the audience. As suggested by the title, the cat sleeps for a very long time. This becomes a playful yet meaningful invitation to reflect on the long-term future, care, responsibility, humanity\u2019s capacity for empathy, and themes of climate change.<\/p>\n<p>Air Giants is a creative robotics studio known for creating monumental, nature-inspired robotic creatures. In this new vision, sutartin\u0117s emerge\u2014the voices of a women\u2019s choir that, through ritualistic chants and dance motifs, encircle the mother and her children, persuading Egl\u0117 not to pass on to future generations the painful experiences she herself has endured.<\/p>\n<p>The project brings together sustainable practices and digital innovation. The cyanotype technique, which uses sunlight, natural pigments, and leaves as stencils, reduces environmental impact and strengthens a direct connection with nature. In Lithuania, several dialects exist; in the world, there are thousands of languages. They sound different, carry different rhythms, melodies, and forms, yet the meaning they convey remains the same. The word \u201cfriend\u201d is pronounced differently in different languages, but everywhere it means the same thing \u2013 closeness, trust, connection. A different sound does not change the essence. Inspired by the symbol of the sun &#8211; a starting point, a constant transformation \u2014 the installation offers a clear, minimal experience built around light, reflection, and sound. The structure stands approximately 5 meters tall and 6 meters wide. It\u2019s covered with polished brass plates, specially treated by Latvian designer M\u0101rcis Ziemi\u0146\u0161. As light hits the surface, the brass creates dynamic reflections that shift depending on the viewer\u2019s position. Inside, 250 meters of COB digital LED strips deliver bright, clean white light. The lighting is synchronized with a custom soundscape by P\u0113teris P\u0101ss, creating a complete audiovisual environment without overwhelming the space. First Light is built from durable, reusable materials. The installation explores how the human body changes and functions \u2014 from the circulatory system to neural networks \u2014 using light, movement, and mechanics.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike digital or conventional projection installations, all visuals in this project are generated by physical, mechanically moving devices, which visitors can observe as an integral part of the installation itself. Here, light is not merely the final result \u2014 it emerges from kinetic structures, mechanical motion, and analog processes, making the act of creation inseparable from the artistic experience.<\/p>\n<p>The artist collective Lightspray Visual has been working for over ten years with a unique projection system, creating moving devices that generate visuals through analog methods. Inspired by the theme of the Klaip\u0117da festival, the artists present a project that reflects the transformations of the human body. An authentic 19th-century stained-glass window from the palace interior, combined with light and historical context, creates a kind of temporal lens, allowing viewers to trace the footprints of the Kretinga Counts in old Klaip\u0117da. Count Juozapas, the head of the family and Kretinga\u2019s number-one visionary, saw ample space and opportunity in old Klaip\u0117da to realize ideas that were often ahead of their time.
