Event “St. Martin and His Geese 2024”

For the fourth year in a row, the captivating autumn festival “St. Martin and His Geese” returns to Klaipėda from November 8-10. During the festival, the Old Town will come alive with the sounds of the legend of St. Martin, the delightful aromas of goose dishes, and impressive light and fire shows illuminating the dark evenings.

As always, the festival will feature a wide selection of restaurants and cafes, joining the celebration with unique seasonal dishes, with a focus on goose flavors. There’s something for everyone to enjoy, so don’t miss the chance to dive into autumn’s culinary delights.

Event Program

November 8

  • 16:00-21:00: Market at Theater Square.
  • 17:00-19:00: Charity event “Sharing is Winning,” supporting children with autism and orphans. (Theater Square)
  • Lantern Tours on St. Martin’s Legend: 16:00, 17:00, 18:00, 19:00, 20:00. (Start: Queen Mary of Peace Church, Rumpiškės St. 6) Fully booked
  • 17:30: Interactive show “Rubino vaikai” (Theater Square)
  • 18:00: Folk event, “Jei Martynas su bradu, tai Kalėdos su ledu,” with the children’s folklore ensemble “Alkiukai.” (Ethnoculture Center, Daržų St. 10)
  • 18:00, 19:00, 20:00: Fire Show “Lords of the Flames” (Theater Square)
  • 18:15: Dance performance by the “D&D” Studio (Theater Square)

Workshops and Educational Events

  • 17:00: Creative workshop on St. Martin’s legend at Pranas Domšaitis Gallery. Participants will create St. Martin figures.

November 9

  • 11:00-18:15: Lantern-making workshops for all ages (€17/person).
  • 12:00-21:00: Market at Theater Square.
  • 15:00: Guided tour “To St. Martin by Tramway.” (€5/person, start: Christ the King Church, Bokštų St. 10)
  • 15:00: Performances by the “RiverVoices” choir (Theater Square)
  • 16:30: Family games and activities in Danės Square.

Lantern Walk

  • 18:15-18:50: Gathering and preparation, followed by a lantern walk through Old Town streets, ending at Theater Square.

Educational Events

  • 12:00: “Goose Tracks” workshop at Pranas Domšaitis Gallery (€6/family).
  • 12:00: Clock-making at the Clock Museum (€5/adults, €3/students).
  • 12:00: Printmaking “What the Goose Says?” (KKKC Art Yard, free)
