Boreas Quartet (Bremen, Germany):

Jin-Ju Baek (baroque flute, South Korea), Luise Manske (baroque bassoon, Germany), Julia Fritz (old cornet, Germany), Elisabeth Champollion (baroque flute, Germany) Programme: a. Vivaldi, J. S. Bach, A. Poglietti, T. Merula, and others. Boreas, the god of the north wind in Greek mythology, gave his name to the longitudinal flute quartet Boreas Quartett Bremen. Wind, air and breath are the primordial elements that make the flute sound. The quartet from Bremen performs music from the 16th and 18th centuries that was written for long flute ensembles. The performers play more than 40 instruments of different sizes and constructions! The evening “Il Flauto Magico” (“The Magic Flute”) will immerse the audience in the rich sound of the Baroque ensemble, while several 20th and 21st century pieces will add a contemporary dimension. All four flutists studied at the Bremen Academy of Early Music. The quartet has toured to various cities in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, South Korea and Taiwan.
