Creative photo workshop with Audronius Zemgulis “Old Portraits”

2025-05-31 - 2025-05-31

Time

13:00

Location

KCCC Exhibition Hall
Didžioji Vandens g. 2, Klaipėda
31 May, 1 pm KCCC resident Audronius Žemgulis invites you to the creative workshop “Old Portraits”, where you will get acquainted with one of the oldest photographic processes – the wet collodion technique, take pictures with a large-format bellows camera, using original copper lenses dating back to the 19th century.
This technique requires each image to be created from scratch, from the preparation of the plate to the development of the image in the darkroom. The end result is a one-off image on glass or metal that stands out for its texture, depth and historical character. It is a slow, deliberate way of making that allows us to know photography at its core – as a synthesis of craft, art and chemistry.
Participants will carry out all the steps of the process themselves, so that, according to the photographer, “each portrait will become a cultural experience and a time capsule – a living testimony of how people viewed the world over a century ago.”
