On the occasion of the European Archaeology Days, on 14 June at 16:00, the Museum of the Museum of the History of Archaeology in Klaipėda. The exhibition “Po šimts pypkių! Vilnius Pipes in the XVII-XIX Centuries”. The event will be attended by Valdas Steponaitis and Atas Žvirblys, the organisers of the exhibition and the accompanying catalogue.
From a cure for all diseases to the scourge of the 21st century, the history of tobacco in the world and in Europe is intriguing, and now, at the end of 5 years of research, it is possible to talk about our own history of harmful habits: the culture of smoking in Vilnius over the past centuries stands out from other European cities in its diversity and dynamism.
The exhibitions “One Hundred Pipes!” The theme of the exhibition is the pipes owned and used by the inhabitants of Vilnius in the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries, their trade routes, and the archaeological finds in Vilnius related to this aspect.
