Self-taught painter, cross-worker. Third generation Lithuanian, born and raised in Medellin, Colombia. Since 2004 lives in Kretinga. Since 2004 – has been living in Kretinga since 2007. He teaches Spanish at the same university, at the College of Social Sciences and the Lithuanian Naval College, as well as in private language schools. He researches the legacy of his grandfather E.Ginvill-Kulvitis (1883-1959) and organises exhibitions of his paintings. He has participated in 5 collective exhibitions in Colombia and has held several solo exhibitions there.
A. E. Kulvietis follows in his grandfather’s footsteps and is interested in the tradition of cross-carving, and organises cross exhibitions. In 2002, the National M.K. Čiurlionis Art Museum and the Lithuanian National UNESCO Commission included A.E. Kulvietis’ exhibitions in the programme of promotion of cross-carving and its symbolism, after UNESCO recognised Lithuanian cross-carving as a masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
