Tango Revolution

Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra

Artistic Director Mindaugas Bačkus

Soloists Vilhelmas Čepinski (violin) Programme. Piazzolla and others. Ástor Piazzolla, the king of the new tango, and his works are the benchmark of the tango sound itself for many listeners today, although in fact he reformed the traditional tango milonga for dancing. The concert programme will include one of Piazzolla’s most popular and ambitious opuses, Seasons in Buenos Aires.

It is a four-movement cycle, the version for violin and string orchestra adapted by our talented violinist Vilhelmas Čepinskis, who also performs as a composer. Alongside the work of the tango revolutionary, we will also hear classical tangos, which sound surprisingly new again today.
