Light and Matter performance “Tunnel” (directed by Miha Golob)

2025-02-07 - 2025-02-07

Time

18:30

Location

Klaipėda Puppet Theatre
9 Turgaus str.

“The Tunnel is an extraordinary performance that seeks to make friends with the darkness and savour the light as if it were a delicious dessert. At first it may seem that light can be controlled, but darkness – the unknowable, threatening darkness – cannot. However, the performance instantly turns this preconception on its head – a pinch of courage and communion allows us to tame the darkness and learn to enjoy it.

Experimenting with light and darkness, the performance invites the audience to a “dark playground” where associative video and sound images are created, playfully raising questions about fear and courage. Tunnel focuses on the exploration of the possibilities of the chosen matter in terms of its physical, chemical, applied properties and symbolic meanings. The puppeteers bring different forms of darkness and light to life, testing the possibilities of their movement, until they reach a point where darkness and light become not only a sensory perception but also a form of expression. For young viewers, it is as if they are in an associative playground where imagination can be exercised and creativity can be sparked, while for adults, it can be an opportunity to reflect on this all-pervading, impalpable substance that is seemingly virtually impossible to grasp in a single stroke.
