On 19 July 2025, Public Serpents, one of the most prominent bands of the contemporary ska-core scene, will come to Klaipėda from the USA. The band will give a spectacular performance in the Malūnas loft. It’s not just a concert, it’s an explosive outpouring of emotion, protest and music, combining the fury of punk rock with the freedom of ska rhythms.
What is ska?
Ska is a style of music born in Jamaica in the mid-20th century, which later flourished in the UK and became a cornerstone sound for movements such as reggae, 2 Tone and ska-punk. It is characterised by fast rhythms, brass parts, danceable energy and social awareness. Ska-core is an even more intense offshoot, where ska is combined with the sound of hardcore punk to create a powerful, inspiring sound that pulsates with fighting spirit.
“Public Serpents is a collective of six musicians from different parts of the world, led by the charismatic leader Skwert Gunn, former member of the legendary Choking Victim. Their music is not just a sound, but a message: about social injustice, struggle, unity and hope.
The band is known for their raw, authentic sound and powerful performances at major festivals such as Boomtown Fair, Rebellion, Manchester Punk Fest and gigs with names like The Slackers, Rancid, Frank Turner, The Suicide Machines and many more.
This summer, Public Serpents embark on their fourth European and UK tour, performing at 9 festival venues (including Boomtown (England), Exit Fest (South Africa), Club Monteparadiso (Croatia), Munky Pride (Latvia), Punk W Doline (Poland), BLB Fest (Italy), Muhlen Madness (Germany) and more).!), including 13 consecutive weeks of club shows in various European cities.
On 19 July, Public Serpents will perform in Klaipėda, in Maluno loft.
