June 26th 6 pm. The energetic orchestra “The BrassBees” will perform in the cosy courtyard of the Klaipėda County Ieva Simonaitytė Public Library.
“The Library is a long-standing partner of the Klaipėda Castle Jazz Festival. We value this friendship very much – this is a space where jazz sounds very cosy and close to people”, – says Inga Grubliauskienė, the festival director.
“The library has long been a focal point for culture and art. We are glad that the sounds of jazz will once again resound in our spaces”, adds Laura Šimkevičė, Director of the Klaipėda County Ievos Simonaitytė Public Library.
The BrassBees, founded in 2016 at Kaunas University of Technology, unites students of Kaunas universities studying in various fields – from engineers to doctors and managers. The mission of the orchestra is to bring together young people who play music, to promote university culture and brass band music in Lithuania and abroad.
The ensemble currently consists of about 20 talented musicians – students and alumni, who actively perform throughout the country. They are regular participants of Kaunas Jazz, city festivals, TV projects and other events.
The orchestra’s repertoire ranges from academic brass band music to contemporary popular street band programmes and jazz improvisations. This year, The BrassBees will delight audiences with a new programme prepared together with jazz singer Žyginta Jašinskaite.
We invite all music lovers, families and visitors to the city to join us on 26 June for a lively, youthful and resonant evening of jazz in the library courtyard!
