The work of Feliks Bajoras and its influence on vocal music

Eglė Šlimaitė, Simona Liamo, Kristina Žaldokaitė (vocals) Pianist Justas Čeponis The programme is presented by Giedrė Kaukaitė, singer, laureate of the Government Prize for Culture and Art Programme: the development of the works of F. Bajor

One of the most distinctive personalities of Lithuanian music, composer Feliksas Bajoras celebrated his 90th birthday in 2024. He is an unpredictable, uncompromising composer who surprises with his original twists on traditional genres and his distinctive combinations of ethnic and contemporary music.

Giedrė Kaukaitė, with her special stage charisma, was the first to perform and make famous many of Bajor’s vocal opuses. Talentedly combining her sophisticated classical vocals with the authentic manner of a folk singer, Kaukaitė created a distinctive tradition of interpretation. “The epoch of Kaukaitė”, said Bajoras, describing not only his own, but also the golden age of Lithuanian vocal music.
