The resort area of the port city is a beach that is very easy to reach from the city centre by car, public transport or on foot. Historically, it was an old fishing village, but today it is one of the most popular attractions for residents and visitors to the seaside town. Active sports fans will also find activities here, including surfing activities.

Surfing lessons take place on Melnrage beach at the north pier.
