This summer, from JUNE 26 to JULY 23, 2026, Karlskrona Square in Klaipėda, located on the banks of the Danė River, will once again become a space for culture, creativity, discovery, and community.
From June 26 to July 11, the FIRST part of the summer cultural program will take place here, inviting residents and visitors to participate free of charge in various events, educational activities, concerts, meetings, and creative workshops. The second part of the program will take place July 14–23 (program to be announced).
Organized by the Immanuel Kant Public Library of the Klaipėda City Municipality, the program is designed for visitors of all ages—from the youngest to seniors. Everyone will find something of interest at Karlskrona Square: families can participate in educational sessions and creative workshops, young people can enjoy concerts and active activities, and adults can attend events on literature, philosophy, and psychology.
Visitors can look forward to the literary exhibition “Psychology for Quality of Life: Learn, Discover, Grow” as well as the reading challenges “Read Your Way Through Klaipėda” and “Summer with a Book,” which invite everyone to spend the summer reading.
Part I of the event program features a soap bubble show, an open skateboarding lesson, concerts by young performers, morning exercises for the whole family, tours of Klaipėda’s Sculpture Park and Old Town, educational sessions on the heritage of Lithuania Minor, beekeeping, and amber, creative workshops, chess classes, open-air drawing, and meetings with representatives from the worlds of literature and philosophy.
Special attention is given to community spirit and inclusion. The Day for People with Disabilities, taking place on July 9, will feature a laughter yoga session, creative presentations, workshops on traditional musical instruments, and a concert program. Children can also look forward to Superhero Day, during which they’ll have the chance to learn about the work of police officers and firefighters and meet a favorite guest of the little ones—Padangė the Dog.
“We want Karlskrona Square to become a place this summer where different generations, interests, and communities come together. Here, you can not only participate in events but also discover new experiences, get to know Klaipėda’s culture, spend time together, and enjoy a meaningful time in the city,” says Renata Rudienė, director of the I. Kanto Public Library.
Events will take place at Karlskrona Square near the Danė River embankment on Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. In case of inclement weather, activities will be moved indoors to the library.
A detailed program and information about possible changes to the schedule are available on the website www.biblioteka.lt.
We invite you to welcome summer with us—at Karlskrona Square!
