August 13, 2026, 3:00–8:00 p.m. The Giruliai Branch of the Immanuel Kant Public Library of the Klaipėda City Municipality (10A Šlaito St.) invites lovers of literature and music who are interested in the works of Hermann Hesse to come together for socializing, dancing, and discussion.

This isn’t a lecture about the author; it’s an evening of music, literature, and socializing. The idea is very simple: to bring together people who already share one common interest—a love for Hesse’s work and, more broadly, a love of books. It’s easier to get to know someone by starting with what you both have in common. This evening, the library will become a lively gathering place where literature, music, and conversation will intertwine. It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet and get to know like-minded people and share your connection to Hesse’s work.

Behind the DJ booth is Valentinas Charitonovas, a special education teacher, music lover, and a big fan of Hesse’s work.

Carefully selected albums of ambient, modern classical, and electronic music will serve as a unique soundtrack to Hesse’s novels.

You don’t have to have read all of Hesse’s books or be able to talk about them using complicated words. All you need is curiosity, a love of literature, and a desire to be among people who also value books, music, and genuine conversation.

We won’t just listen to music—we’ll listen to each other, too.
