Contemporary Music Festival “Music of Change”
East meets West – that’s how to describe the spectacular programme of this year’s Permainų muzika festival. The mystical music of Arvo Pärt, the Tibetan mantra-inspired work of Peeter Vähi, and John Cage’s famous 4’33”, a legendary symbol of silence, will be the surprise of the evening as ever.
Mozart’s “Turkish” Violin Concerto and his playful Symphony will sound particularly fresh and lively in this context of contemporary music. The Estonian musicians will be joined on stage by the internationally acclaimed Glasperlenspiel Sinfonietta, a chamber orchestra known for its innovative programmes and deep understanding of contemporary music.
There is also the legendary conductor, violinist, and promoter of baroque and contemporary music Andres Mustonen, who has already appeared on Lithuanian stages on several occasions, and one of the brightest Estonian violinists of the younger generation, Hans Christian Aavik, whose talent and expression are gaining increasing recognition in Europe.
