The Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra, together with guest conductor Sesto Quatrini from Italy, presents a programme that brings together two composers from different eras and aesthetics. Gustav Mahler’s music is characterised by its philosophical introspectiveness, the depth of its psychological state and the precision of its vocal-orchestral dramaturgy.
Osvaldas Golijovas’ work represents a contemporary expression of global culture, interweaving the principles of Western academic music, liturgical and folk elements, Latin American rhythms and contemporary harmonic structures. Soloist Lina Dambrauskaitė’s voice will serve as a connecting layer between two compositional paradigms – Mahler’s emotional expression and Golijov’s multi-layered cultural references. The programme will offer an insight into the musical identities of the 20th and 21st centuries, their dialogue and stylistic contrast.
The programme will feature:
Osvaldo Golijov, Three Songs for soprano and orchestra (20 min.)
____
Gustav Mahler Symphony No.4 (58 min.)
