On June 20, 2026, one of the most prominent bands on the contemporary ska-core scene—Public Serpents—will arrive in Klaipėda from the U.S. At Malūno Loft, the band will deliver an impressive performance brimming with explosive emotions, protest, and music, blending the fury of punk rock with the freedom of ska rhythms.
What is ska?
Ska is a musical style that originated in Jamaica in the mid-20th century, later flourishing in the United Kingdom and becoming a cornerstone of genres such as reggae, ska, and punk. It is characterized by a fast tempo, brass sections, infectious energy, and social consciousness. Ska-core is an even more intense offshoot, where ska is combined with the sound of hardcore punk, creating a powerful, inspiring sound pulsating with a fighting spirit.
Public Serpents is a seven-piece band made up of musicians from all over the world, led by the charismatic Skwert Gunn, a former member of the legendary band Choking Victim. Their music conveys a message of social injustice, struggle, unity, and hope.
The band is known for its authentic sound and powerful performances at major festivals: Boomtown Fair, Rebellion, Manchester Punk Fest, and concerts alongside acts such as The Slackers, Rancid, Frank Turner, The Suicide Machines, and many others.
This summer, Public Serpents are embarking on their fifth tour of Europe and the United Kingdom, during which they will perform at nine festivals (including Boomtown (England), Club Monteparadiso (Croatia), Punk W Doline (Poland), BLB Fest (Italy), “Muhlen Madness” (Germany), and more!), and in between, they will perform at clubs in various European cities for 11 consecutive weeks.
On June 20, the band Public Serpents will perform in Klaipėda at Malūno Loft.
The guests from New Jersey will be warmed up by the Klaipėda-based punk-core band “Giltinė Band.”
