This evening’s programme invites the audience to get acquainted with the tradition of the French chanson (English song), which will be performed by Chris Ruebens (guitar, vocals), Nerijus Bakula (accordion) and Tadas Dešukas (violin). The songs chosen for this evening, by Édith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Thomas Dutronc and Georges Brassens, represent different strands of French popular music, from intimate lyricism to rhythmically lively narrative ballads. Chris Ruebens’ arrangements take on a new chamber form, combining guitar harmonies, accordion timbres and melodic violin interludes.
