Listening to this concert, the sound experienced does not so much tell a story as open up a state of mind. The vocal ensemble Melos and the cello quintetCello Club, under the direction of conductor Karolis Variakoas, invite you to a meditative soundscape painted entirely in monochromatic sounds – like an uninterrupted tone vibrating in the margins of silence. The concert programme consists of works by Lithuanian contemporary composers , collected on the album Monochrome, which explore subtle changes in sonic shades and juxtapose inner timbral tension with slight intonational vibrations.
This music is not background music, the combined sound of cellos and the human voice requires concentration and listening.
