Concert “Music without chairs”

2026-06-25 - 2026-06-25

Time

20:00 - 21:00

Location

Klaipėda Puppet Theatre Educational Centre

“Music Without Chairs is an unconventional classical music concert based on the principles of somatic listening, where you will experience music not in a traditional seated position, but rather by moving freely through space.

It is an interactive musical performance, inviting each participant to discover the most individual way of being with the music – standing, lying down, moving or standing still, listening with your eyes open or closed. This experience will encourage listening not only with the intellect, but also with the body, allowing the music to work on a deeper level – emotional and physical.

The concert will feature classical music pieces performed by pianist Darius Mažintas, accompanied by somatics teacher and therapist Kamilė Pundziūtė. The therapist and the musician will work together to create an unconventional but safe and open space for experience, where music, movement and inner attention to oneself meet.

This project was born out of a partnership with the platform “Dance Space”, which for more than a decade has been organising classes where participants are invited to immerse themselves in music, movement and their inner world. These practices are integrated into the structure of the concert, extending the boundaries of the traditional classical music concert.

What happens when chairs are pulled up at a concert?

According to the programme’s founders, this is an opportunity to experience music in a different way – authentically, freely and personally. Just like at home, you can choose the most comfortable position for your body, movement or location in the event space, allowing the music to reach you outside of the traditional seating. We invite you to immerse yourself in new experiences!
