This will be the first concert of choral music in the Stained Glass Menorah after the restoration – a newly reborn space where history, stained glass windows and music come together in a special way.
The circle of history returns. Founded in 1935 in Klaipėda, today’s Klaipėda University, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities – and then in the Stained Glass Menorah – the choir “Ave vita” was first heard in the same year. 90 years later, the choir returns to the same space, continuing its history and musical journey.
“Ave vita is the result of ninety years of choral culture traditions, concerts in Lithuania, Europe and all over the world, numerous awards and laurels of international competitions. The ensemble has been awarded two Golden Birds: the nomination “Star of International Splendour” was awarded in 2002 for its active international activities, and the nomination “Best Adult Choir and Conductor” was awarded in 2022.
Artistic Director and Conductor Prof. Kastytis Barisas, Choirmaster Gintarė Barisaitė-Mitkuvienė, Choir Concertmaster Lina Jaskevičienė.
The concert will also feature the Klaipėda University Mixed Choir “Pajūrio echoes”, artistic director and conductor Prof. Algirdas Šumskis, vocal pedagogue Prof. Valentina Vadoklienė, and concertmaster Eglė Bandzevičienė.
A special and symbolic musical celebration awaits – two academic choirs, two honourable anniversaries and the space where history began.
