19 March 2026, 17:30 The first meeting of the book club will take place in the American Reading Room.

For our first meeting, we chose the novel “Don’t Kill the Song Thrush” by the American writer Harper Lee, published in 1960. The book was immediately popular, won the Pulitzer Prize and became a classic of modern American literature. The novel’s plot and characters are based on the author’s childhood memories, portraits of her family and neighbours, and events that took place near her hometown in 1936, when she was ten years old. It is a profound and moving story of justice, humanity and coming of age that has inspired readers around the world for many years.
