Season Opening Concert
George Frideric Handel’s opera Alcina is one of the finest examples of Baroque opera, full of magic, love and illusion. This concert performance of the opera will unite the forces of academic and early music connoisseurs – the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra will be joined by Europe’s most renowned masters of historical instruments in the international ensemble Canto Fiorito, and soloists from Lithuania will perform the opera’s roles. Rodrigo Calveyra, a specialist in early music who has worked with some of Europe’s greatest Baroque opera directors, will be at the conductor’s chair.
The visual narrative of the Baroque opera will be complemented by Agnė Gintalaitė’s video projections, created especially for this project, using artificial intelligence. These visuals accompanying the music are not only an aesthetic backdrop, but also a contemporary reflection on the limits of reality and illusion. The audience is therefore in for an exceptional evening, where the grandeur of the Baroque soundscape, contemporary imagination and the power of technology come together.
Programme: the Lithuanian premiere of historically informed performance. Concert version with video projections
