Lauksnos is a Prussian word meaning “stars”, “lights”.

The International Festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage “Lauksnos” brings together traditional culture promoters from all over the world and invites them to explore the unique elements of intangible cultural heritage: music, dance, folklore, folk art masterpieces.

The festival presents in various forms the elements included in the lists regulated by the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Since 2017, the biennial festival’s events – concerts, theatre performances, workshops, exhibitions, debates, craft presentations – have attracted more than 15 000 visitors each year. They have the opportunity to experience the traditional cultures of different countries around the world up close.

The fifth festival will take place in 2026 in 𝗹ᵟ𝗶𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗼𝘀 𝗵-𝟵-𝟭𝟮 𝗱. Klaipėda.

Since 2019, the festival has UNESCO patronage.
