On 27-29 June, we invite everyone – young and old – to Klaipėda, to the Fisherman’s Monument and to the Dane Square, where we will celebrate the Inter-annual Fisherman’s Day. This is a unique event to celebrate fishermen, seafarers and the port community.
The sea is part of our lives. Fishermen and seafarers have always been the ones who not only fed the city, but also made Lithuania’s name known in the world. International Fishermen’s Day is not only about fun, but also about honouring these people and Klaipėda’s identity as a maritime city.
During the celebration there will be discussions, conversations and open mic sessions, during which everyone will be able to share their thoughts on fishing, the work of seafarers, the importance of the city and the port to Lithuania.
The festival will open with fishermen’s gift to the city – fish soup, which will be served free of charge to all the participants.
A concert programme will keep you entertained throughout the weekend, and an entertainment zone with trampolines and games for the little ones.
There will also be a fishermen’s fair with over 100 different traders:
- Master creators and designers from Lithuania and Latvia
- Culinary heritage: home-made cheeses, bread, smoked country meat, game products, homemade cakes
- Freshly smoked fish, locally baked forked meat, seafood, delicatessen
- Small brewers from Pasvalys, Pakruojis and Biržai
- Sweets for children: ice cream, homemade custard cones, waffles and the popular spiral fries.
Klaipėda invites you not only to taste fish soup, but also to indulge your heart with music.
The brightest Lithuanian music stars who know how to touch the heart of a fisherman and the soul of a city! Irena Starošaitė and Žilvinas Žvagulis, Edgaras Lubys, Vairas, Gintarė Karaliūnaitė, Steponas Januška, Valdas Lacko, Baltas Kiras, Laura Remeikienė.
On 27-29 June, we invite everyone to meet at the Fisherman’s Monument by the Danube River, to taste fishwine and immerse in entertainment and traditions!
The event is free and open to the whole family.
