Victoria Skafaru, an artist born in Klaipėda but living in Italy for more than a decade, is returning to her hometown with a painting exhibition, which will become another part of the “Italian Days in Klaipėda”.
Victoria Skafaru is an artist whose work combines influences from different cultures: the Tuscan Trecento school of painting, the Orthodox tradition of icons, and the Japanese aesthetic of sumi-e. Through abstraction and figurative painting, her works merge metaphysical and meditative spaces, inviting the viewer to an inner journey.
She studied Fine Art at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, later deepened her skills in Italy and since 2012 has been actively participating in international exhibitions and art fairs. Her works have been exhibited in Florence, San Gimignano, Milan, Treviso, and in Lithuania – in Vilnius, Palanga and elsewhere.
The exhibition presents two series of works:
“Mysterious Mountains” are compositions that refuse perspective, where rocks are suspended in timeless space and form changes its matter.
“The Garden of Shelters are landscapes immersed in fog, where the only clearly recognisable element is the light-filled tree – a symbol of life and wholeness.
At the opening, the artist will talk about her creative process and sources of inspiration.
You can also visit the exhibition after the Italian Days in Klaipėda until the end of April.
