The 11th of March – the Day of the Restoration of Lithuanian Independence – will be celebrated with an original concert programme “Tūravonės”, which brings together contemporary creativity and the living Lithuanian music tradition.

The programme features a cycle of original songs by Jonas Baltokas, based on texts by Liutauras Degėsis, Stasys Jonauskas, Marcelijus Martinaitis and other Lithuanian poets, performed together with Daiva, who accompanies the songs with an authentic crooning manner. Tūravonės is a two-part singing technique, where the harmony of voices is not written down in sheet music, but recreated according to the tradition of folk singing and musical memory.

This format organically reflects the meaning of March 11: just as Lithuania’s independence was restored, this programme recreates the living characteristics of folk music – not as a museum form, but as a continuation of the culture that is being heard today.

The intimate, acoustic programme creates an intimate and concentrated atmosphere of celebration, allowing us to experience March 11 through voice, memory and shared presence.
