Unexpected, witty and highly relevant – that’s what this unique educational programme is all about, using modern technology alongside traditional chamber music. This musical project opens up new possibilities for contemporary music and encourages young people to actively participate in music making.
Swedish composer Anders Lind, who masterfully manipulates electronics and interactive means in his music, together with the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra will present the world premiere of his new work Episodes for Strings and Oscillators, which will also feature a mobile phone orchestra. This is a collective, a specially selected group of 40 young people (16-18 years old) who will be pre-trained to use their smartphones as musical instruments. This original work explores the dialogue between acoustic string instruments and analogue synthesizers, whose sounds are processed live and integrated into the orchestral sound.
The programme will also feature the electronic composition “One Zero One”, inspired by the legendary Roland SH-101 synthesiser. And also, this concert has been chosen to be recorded by the prestigious record label European Gramophone – an exceptional recognition of the project, revealing its artistic and technological importance in the context of European contemporary music.
