A 2-part musical about music legend MOZART!
A wunderkind who had the brightest future ahead of him, but whose life was torn between brilliance and self-destruction.
Kaunas State Musical Theatre invites Klaipėda residents and visitors to the musical “Mozart!” by Austrian creators Michael Kunze and Sylvester Levay – a two-part story about a genius whose life oscillated between the splendour of fame and self-destruction.
He is not a pompous legend, but a lively, temperamental, impulsive Mozart – like the first rockstar of his time. The musical world created by Kunze and Levay combines the energy of rock with the elegance of rococo, a contrast that reveals the complexity of the man behind the mask of genius.
The Kaunas production combines the contemporary look of director Viktorija Streiča, the musical vision of Jonas Janulevičius, the dynamic set design of Artūras Šimonis and the enchanting baroque costumes of Juozas Statkevičius. The forces of soloists, choir, ballet and orchestra, together with the rhythm section, create a storm of musical drama.
In Klaipėda, Vygantas Bemovas, a favourite of the audience for his charisma and expressive stage energy, will play the leading role of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
“Mozart!” reveals the inner conflict of a genius: between the rules of the court and the desire for freedom, between duty and self-expression, between discipline and hedonism. He is haunted by his “second self”, the “porcelain child” Amadeus, who symbolises genius, giving him wings, but at the same time burning him from the inside.
The musical invites us to get to know Mozart, not as a perfect god from the textbooks, but as a sensitive, imperfect, crazy and very human man.

“Mozart!” – rock in the rococo world. An emotional explosion where genius meets earthly weakness.
