On June 19 at 6:30 p.m., the KADS Baroti Gallery will host the opening of Rytis Martinionis’ solo exhibition of paintings, “From the Thickets of the Subconscious.” “The artist’s works are often imbued with a sense of impending global catastrophes and crises: familiar narratives, world-shaking events, emotions evoked by literature, street scenes, even the simplest details of everyday life, imbued with the artist’s irony, give his works unexpected meanings and a strong philosophical charge. Reflections of the war in Ukraine are also discernible in R. Martinionis’s paintings. The artist has admitted that what is happening there deeply moves him. For the artist, the surrealist and abstract style of painting is merely a way to give meaning to the changing reality of life. The subtexts are emphasized by the titles of the paintings, which convey the author’s perspective on a particular phenomenon, thought, idea, the flow of the subconscious, or his personal connection to reality.” / Dr. Vidas Poškus / The KADS exhibition will be on display at the Baroti Gallery until July 14. Gallery sponsors: UAB “Stemma Group,” UAB “Vakarų Medienos Grupė.” The project is partially funded by the Klaipėda City Municipality.
