31 January, 17:30 The exhibition “Sergantis tekstas / Sick text” by the Swedish artist under the pseudonym Diktgymnasiet opens at the Klaipėda Centre for Cultural Communications (KCCC). It is about how life changes when you have a chronic illness. The basis of Diktgymnasiet’s artistic practice – language – then became lost, inaccessible. In the artist’s own words, “both I and my writing were ill”. And what is a writer to do if reading and writing become cognitively inaccessible? In the works, most of which were created in the bed of sickness, language is used as a material to raise questions of self-help, disability and justice. The exhibition runs until 2 March.
