No matter where we live in the world, in many cases we are irretrievably deprived of the opportunity to sit with our neighbours on the street or on a bench in the yard. This now-abandoned former possession of mature people deprives us of the opportunity to perceive and observe our neighbouring world closely. And to look over the horizon and stare at this symbol of hope for a much-needed rebirth. This journey of empty faith to the cradle of Mediterranean culture, inspired by Różewicz’s Et in Arcadia ego, becomes a poem about the state of our civilisation.
In his latest performance, Jerzy Zoń forces us to concentrate in order to reach a state of wholeness. It reveals the present as the main killer of the past. From the first to the last scene of this wordless performance, the audience will be accompanied by an irresistible longing for the world, for art, for oneself, and the desire to preserve the gift of fate – one’s roots. In this work, the author paints an Arcadian landscape made up of all that is most beautiful and most cruel in earthly life, where the echoes of mythical words reach us in every corner.
