Wednesday 29 April, 17.30. Klaipėdos kultūrų komunikacijų centro (KKKC) Parodų rūmuose (Didžioji Vandens g. 2) vyks KKKC rezidentės Paulinos Belik lėto kūrimo dirbtuvės „Lėlių laboratorija“, kurių metu dalyviai bus kviečiami susipažinti su menininkės praktika ir patys išbandyti lėto, medžiagiško kūrimo procesus.

Interdisciplinary artist Paulina Belik (born in Narva, Estonia) combines traditional crafts and contemporary media in her work. After studying animation at the Estonian Academy of Arts, her practice consistently develops a dialogue between the digital and physical worlds, combining computer graphics with earth materials.

Textiles play an important role in the artist’s work as a medium that allows the exploration of new forms, structures and dimensions. Flexible and versatile, textiles in Belik’s works become not only a field of experimentation, but also a symbol of durability, longevity and slow creation.

In recent years, the artist has consciously turned to handmade work, seeing it as a counterbalance to the accelerating rhythm of contemporary life. In her practice, handmade work becomes a way of reconnecting with oneself, the material and the environment, and handmade objects take on a special value in today’s context. During the workshop, the artist will invite participants to create a doll out of wool.

“Art is an opportunity to get away from the everyday and experience something truly alive,” says the artist.
