The KLAIPĖDA PIANO MASTERS Summer Piano Academy is returning to the Sea Festival! Now in its seventh year, the Sea Festival Piano Cup will introduce the audience to the intriguing superpowers of pianists—powers that often remain behind the scenes. Twenty-five young pianists will compete in this six-round interactive competition, and the audience will help determine who will take home the unique trophy. The winner will be the one who demonstrates agility, quick reflexes, musical intelligence, knowledge, and psychological resilience. During the breaks between rounds, masterpieces by F. Chopin, F. Liszt, and other composers will be performed. Admission is free, and the most active audience members will receive wonderful musical prizes.
Launched in 2017, the KPM program had no equivalent anywhere in the world. Its goal is to nurture well-rounded young artists and music creators and prepare them for careers in the music industry. In addition to piano lessons and concert practice, students are taught the basics of personal management, performance psychology, public image building, and concert planning. The academy’s founder is pianist Gintaras Januševičius, who performs and teaches around the world.
