A TOUR AND CONVERSATION WITH ARTIST ANA DE ALMEIDA

Meet Ana de Almeida, one of the authors of the exhibition “The Unbearable Weight of Importance”. The event will take place on 18 March (Wednesday) at 6 pm. The event will take place at the KCCC Exhibition Hall. The artist will give a short tour of the exhibition, followed by a conversation in English with Juta Kiude.

Ana de Almeida (born 1987) is an artist and author based in Lisbon and Vienna. Her work explores the politics of memory, the intersection between archival methodologies and personal and collective histories. Often working with photography, text, video, installation and performance, she focuses on the activation of local archives to reflect on revolutionary desire, the transmission of resistance and the formation of political subjectivity.

Anna de Almeida’s work has been exhibited at institutions such as Camera Austria, Kunsthalle Wien, Belvedere 21, MNAC and MAAT in Lisbon, Serralves Foundation in Porto, ICA in Yerevan, CSULA in Los Angeles, Tabakalera in Donostia/San Sebastian, Ústi nad Labem Art House and GHMP in Prague. She has received the Austrian State Media Art Grant and the BES Revelação Art Prize, and her work is part of several public and private collections.
