On 19 January, 5 pm, we invite you to the traditional dance training for participants of the Lithuanian schoolchildren’s folk dance competition PATREPSYNĖ 2026 (Klaipėda Ethnocultural Centre, Daržų str. 10). The training will be conducted by ethnomusicologist, consultant-expert of Aukštaitija folklore ensembles and Aukštaitija folk costume of the Lithuanian National Culture Centre Lina Vilienė.
The training is intended for folklore ensembles, ethno-cultural groups, primary school teachers and choreography teachers. During the meeting, the participants will learn the compulsory dances of “Patrepsynė 2026”, with an emphasis on dance stylistics, communication both in pairs and with other pairs. It will also analyse the authentic features of folkloric couple dances and the possibilities of their expression in today’s culture, the actualization of the values of Lithuanian ethnic culture in the context of globalization, the possibilities of naturalness, character and individual interpretation of folk dance, the peculiarities of adaptation of authentic dance in terms of the children’s age range, experience.
