June 30, 2026, Tuesday, 6 p.m. The Melnragė branch of the Klaipėda City Municipal Public Library (Molo St. 60) will host a heartfelt and poetic concert of original songs “And the Forests Carried Away the Sun,” performed by songwriter and singer VYGANTAS KAZLAUSKAS.
V. Kazlauskas is a doctor, director, and composer of original music who performs on stages and at festivals across Lithuania. The artist has written dozens of songs and released several albums of his own music, and is also known to the public for his musical projects and performances alongside various other artists.
During the evening, the audience will be invited on an intimate musical journey where words, melody, and inner feelings come together. Songs will be performed about love and loss, the sea and longing, the fragility of youth, and the human inner world. This is music born from an encounter with Lithuanian poetry, allowing us to hear familiar texts in a new light.
The program features original songs based on the works of Lithuania’s most prominent poets: Paulius Širvys, Justinas Marcinkevičius, Vytautas Mačernis, Henrikas Radauskas, Violeta Palčinskaitė, Antanas A. Jonynas, as well as poems by contemporary authors Vainius Bakas and Vilius Dinstmanas.
This is an evening where poetry becomes music, and words take on a new resonance. The proximity of the sea, the mood of a summer evening, and live music will invite you to pause, listen, and remember the most important things—love, dreams, longing, and hope.
Please come.
Perhaps something will quietly resonate within you this evening…
