Klaipėda University Botanical Garden – a Map of Nature Knowledge

In the valley of the Danė River, where the wind gently caresses the slopes, lies a garden that opens up the diversity of flora and the secrets of nature knowledge. Since 1993, an assemblage of nearly 4,000 plant species and varieties has been nurtured here like a living map, where each path leads deeper into the history of the landscape.

The garden is divided into thematic sections: the dendrology section featuring conifers and deciduous trees, a section of medicinal and aromatic plants, and an exposition of herbaceous ornamental plants. Visitors are invited to discover both the world of rambling plants and the unique vegetation of the seaside – the rare plants found in the Baltic dunes.

Among the greenery, old embankments stand, a small old cemetery is hidden, and above them tower century-old oaks, reminiscent of the Prussian times. This is a place where history and vegetation coexist, and every walk offers a lively conversation between an individual, landscape and memory.
